With reference to paragraph 3 of Colonial Office letter

|| No.53838/2/38 of the 9th April, I am directed by Viscount

Halifax to inform you that he will be grateful if the Governor

of Hong Kong, should Mr. Secretary Ormsby-Gore see no

objection, will arrange for the local payment of the sum objection,

of £147. 3s. 5d. which is owing to the military authorities

in respect of stores and services. Lord Halifax will further

be glad to be informed in due course of the currency balance

remaining after the payment of this sum.

2. I am to enquire whether it will be possible to

produce a certificate of audit of the accounts.

3. Copies of this letter are being sent to the War

Office and the Crown Agents.
